Uncle Chad's Swim School

(He hasn't lost one yet :)

Uncle Chad's pool has been a place of learning. When Layne and Tom (my sisters kids) first started swimming there they didn't know how to swim. But as they came to visit Uncle Chad would help them and push them in a way they didn't know they were being pushed. He has a way with teaching and challenging the kids while they are having fun.

So we enrolled Lauren each weekend to spend time with Uncle Chad. She went from being nervous in the pool and never liking to get her face wet to know jumping off the side doing cannonballs and belly flops (on purpose of course).

She spends more time under water now that on top of it. He bought her a pair of googles that fit her and that has made all the difference. (Not the ones pictured above - those are Laynes who is a teenager now)...

Reagan is also doing very well swimming. He wears the Spongebob life jacket now and can get in the pool and swim around it all by himself (of course we closely supervise). But he can float all around the pool now and get to the side by himself and hang on. It was so fun watching the kids swim.

These pictures were taken a few weeks ago when the pool temperature was in the 60's. These were short stints of swimming followed by a nice warm bath. Now the pool is much warmer.

Note - you don't see me in any of these pictures. I'm not crazy enough to get in 60 degree water. I like 90 - 92 degree water.

And no day of swimming is complete without a high five. Chad and Lauren do all kinds of different 5's. They have had their hand shake since she was a baby and now they do that with different kinds of 5's attached.
